Meet Sam Hillier
With a background in carpentry and 18 years of experience across residential construction, Sam founded Hillier Built with a straightforward goal — to deliver well-built projects through honest communication, practical knowledge, and genuine involvement throughout the building process.
Sam's passion for carpentry began long before he entered the trade. Growing up, he was always hands-on, developing an appreciation for building, creating, and understanding how things come together. That early interest led him to begin his carpentry apprenticeship in Victoria in 2008, where he learned the trade working for a custom home builder specialising in new homes and renovations. It was here that he developed the foundations of quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a passion for creating exceptional homes.
After establishing a successful building company in Victoria, Sam spent several years travelling Australia. During that time, he fell in love with the South West of Western Australia and made the decision to relocate in 2019. Since then, he has continued building a reputation for quality workmanship, taking on a range of exciting custom homes and renovation projects throughout the region.
Rather than stepping away once construction begins, Sam remains closely involved throughout every stage of the project. Unlike many builders, he is still actively on the tools, working alongside his team to ensure each project is carefully managed and executed to the highest standard.
A strong believer in the importance of relationships, Sam is passionate about fostering genuine connections with clients, employees, and contractors alike. He believes trust, respect, and open communication are fundamental to running a successful business and delivering a positive building experience for everyone involved.
Since relocating to the South West, Sam has worked hard to build a skilled team, training apprentices and employees to uphold the same standards of quality, professionalism, and craftsmanship that Hillier Built is known for. His favourite completed local project is The Acacia project, a home that reflects the level of detail and quality he strives for on every build, although the current Yallingup Siding project is quickly becoming a strong contender.
His experience spans renovations, extensions, custom homes, outdoor living spaces, and architectural residential projects. Working closely with homeowners, architects, designers, and consultants, Sam brings a practical, solutions-focused approach to every build, helping turn each vision into a home that is thoughtfully crafted, expertly built, and made to last.
